Catapult elastic

When I was a young lad my father showed me how to make a home made catapult from the fork of a branch, leather and elastic. The result has always out performed anything else I have ever tried, before or since. I still use that same catapult after over 20 years but I need to replace the elastic again.
I am trying to find a good source of square section elastic, approx 6mm wide. Can anyone suggest a UK supplier?

My brothers used to make them too..The elastic used to be ready available. but its never seen these days..You can buy catapults from fishing shops but like you say the quality isn't there..

Re: Catapult elastic

in my younger days I used to use a section cut from an inner tube - these are widely available from garages etc

Re: Catapult elastic

Hi,

Have you tried webley, they made catapults and air rifles, gun shops is another idea, I think that fishing takle shops sell something similar, but it now comes in different grades and it's round, I know you've tried them but ask for the strongest.

Max.

Re: Catapult elastic

Re: Catapult elastic

We used to get it from the local model shop.....It was used as the propulsion for wind up aeroplane propellors.
