| | | Re: New English Springer Spaniel Our springer is just a pet. But she likes sniffing out hidden doggies treats. She also loves hunting and flushing and chasing the birds. They are on the go all day long they never stop. We can't let her off the lead as she runs off due to being over caged and lack of attention when she was a pup. She is a rescue springer. This is her.. |

| | | Re: New English Springer Spaniel We have a working springer Millie and a show springer Jesse James, both rescue dogs. Had Millie been properly trained young, she would have made a superb working dog, however, all she wants to do is kill everything that moves! When she catches a Rabbit she will not give it up, just sits there with it in her mouth until it's dead - then I can have it! This is a typical pic of her after a walk, always covered in something after she has been chasing through the undergrowth. They are fantastic dogs, great choice.

| | | Re: New English Springer Spaniel I used to work for a guy who bred springers (long time ago mind) and my 1st dog was a springer - all gundogs and they were great. Our last dog that we had to have put down 12 months ago was a working cocker and Meg was without doubt the best spaniel I ever owned and had a terrific temperament ( my kids were 1 and 2 when we got her and those big ears are just great for pulling I used to take Meg ferreting aand she was quick but not as quick as my whippet
When meg died I said no more but we only lasted 2 weeks Lol and now we own a rescue dog. we think she's err, well maybe ummm.. I think she's a mix of whippet, staffy, and a dash of pointer - she can run all day ( saying that she's asleep on the bed at the moment and is really loving so I guess it doesn't matte what sort you get, it's how you treat them that make a good or bad dog.
