| | Earth or clay ovens Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any good recommendations for building clay or earthen ovens? I have been trawling the search pages, and have come up with alot of information, but was hoping someone may have some specific knowledge, know of a particularly useful book, or website, or even built one themselves. Any advice welcome.
Thanks |

| | | Re: Earth or clay ovens Hi, There's a really good book called Build Your Own Earth Oven by Kiko Denzer (published by Chelsea Green) the instructions are very clear. I'll be giving it a go when I get my bit of land Good Luck! |

| | | Re: Earth or clay ovens I'm afraid I don't know much about earth ovens but I do know when I was an honory girl guide my mum (guider) used an old wooden tea chest stuffed with hay as a slow cooker for stews - heated up on campfire then shoved in this tea chest and left for hours, it worked very well! |

| | Re: Earth or clay ovens Hello Tufftie and Gill,
Thanks for the tips, I will certainly pick up that book. I am learning to cook on a woodburner at the moment, and want to bake bread and make cakes etc in one pan on the fire, its all a massive learning curve, but really good fun...with alot of dubious tasting outcomes...and good ones too
I have never heard of the tea chest idea, and it has spun me off into other ideas, which is fab, thanks | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
