| | | Lamping rabbits last week Did a wonderful pest control job for a few farmers last week using a traditional method of lamping no guns poisons or traps which is a good way of indiscriminately thinning out rabbit population.. With two collie lurchers It was a wet windy night perfect conditions for lamping and we ended the night with 58 healty rabbits which went to the game dealers and will now be in the food chain human or pet food..
How many other members take part in this wonderful feildsport what dogs do you run ? Or do you shoot?
I also like ferreting but lamping is where the real fun is |

When i go lamping, it's mainly to observe Mammals not to take them. But i see nothing wrong with working a Lurcher. I prefer to have my Rabbits Ferreted. I will never take one that's been shot, and thats why i won't eat Hare anymore.
Just like to point out something..Rabbiting and Ferreting are not Fieldsports

I would love to, but i am also confused to what is a Fieldsport.
According to the powers that be, ie MFHA, Countryside Alliance etc. Rabbiting, Ratting, Ferreting and the Working of Terriors against Fox are not recognised Fieldsports, and should never be described as such.
What qualifies as a Fieldsport... Hunting, Stalking, Shooting, Coursing, Fishing and Falconry.
Quote: Brian Toon
A Fieldsport is. "An activity in which a legally-designated pest quarry species is taken by a means which affords it a sporting chance of escape unharmed".

Regards Christian. | Are you a politician, you hav'nt answered the question as to why YOU say that rabbiting and ferreting ar'nt field sports, you have just taken and "spun" a quote to support your statement, let's hear what you think, not someone else. |

I think you need to read the post again. And probably contact the Countryside Alliance, and ask them why they do not Consider them as Fieldsports. And means we are getting a bit sarky. Do you Know who Brian Toon is..read Foxhunting putting the case? Do you know why Rabbiting should be considered a Fieldsport?
I regularly Hunt and Fish for the pot, done it for a long as i can remember. So does a large majority of my family. I have never known Rabbiting to be classed as a Fieldsport, Pest control yes. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
