| | | Re: ferreting I used to go ferreting with my mates when I was in my early teens as we had to put food on the table.
The local farmer encouraged us as he had thousands of rabbits on his land. I
haven't been for nearly forty years but your post brought back some good memories of days out in the countryside. Your lucky with the badgers as I have never seen a live one. |

| | | Re: ferreting I too used to go when I was a boy. We had two ferrets at the bottom of our garden and my father made his own nets using a fisherman's wooden needle, a curtain ring and Post Office waxed string.
This was over half a century ago and I still remember it fondly - unlike the rabbits.

| | | Re: ferreting I used to have ferrets and mine lived in a hutch at the bottom of the garden, people keep them as indoor pets now.
I used to enjoy that sort of thing but couldn't do it now.
I remember someone else losing their ferret as there was young in the rabbit nest and the ferret stayed down there, he kept going back for days to look for it but never found it. |

| | | Re: ferreting I seem to come across more wildlife when out ferreting. I don't now if i become more observant to whats around me. Or because, i get access to farmland that is not disturbed by masses of people....Probably both |

| | | Re: ferreting iknow what you mean doing the diggin i remember one cold frosty morning me and my pal was out in the feild ferreting. and my jill layed up tracked her on the finder . the reading 3 feet deep. and as you know with it being cold and frosty the ground was rock hard. so of i went spaid in hand first stricke and nearly broke my foot.as it was cold i soon got warmed up with the dig. got down to her and she had 3 connies back up in a stop. so that was ok good rabbit stew that day |
