Re: more obervations while fishing

I don't fish but often meet anglers when out and about. I met one yesterday who had been on site for 48 hours and was describing the wildlife that he had seen and showed me the tracks of a muntjac that had passed by that night. I do not have the patience to spend that much time in one spot but there are rewards, clearly.

I saw far more elusive species like Otters while fishing than I do now going out specifically looking for them. But like you Colin I cant sit in one spot for a long time these days...always get itchy feet

The N.Yorks rivers were my second home, but the lower reaches.Wish I could get back down there just for a look around sometime(no transport).I miss the places I used to visit more than the hobby...

I've tried all forms of fishing and eventually stopped altogether but recently returned to fishing and would never fish any other way than using the fly - it's never boring as you are constantly moving and when you do get a fish on there is no weight on the line to interfere with the fight from the fish.
Nowadays I always put the fish back, unless too badly damaged.
