Gull ID please

Spent a day helping out at a croft and then went for a quick walk in the Castle Grounds, across the harbour enterance was this gull, I am afraid these pictures are heavily cropped so I don't know if will help. I think its either an adult Iceland or Glaucous Gull. The only Iceland that has been seen recently is juv. or 1st winter, this looks like an adult. It was on its own so nothing to compare it to size wise. thought of walking over but it would have taken 20 minutes and even if still there the sun would be full on to me.

What do you think and is it worth walking down to the Harbour on a Sabbath in Stornoway to try and get a close up!!

It is a "white winged" gull and I would go for Iceland as the bird does have a more "gentle" look than Glaucous.

Looks like you had another sunny day in the Hebs.

I agree with Richard that it's an Iceland Gull due to its slight appearance +more gentle expression.

Yes, definitely Iceland. As well as the slighter build, smaller, rounded head and gentler expression, Iceland also has longer wings ('primary projection') than Glaucous, and this is obvious on these photos.
