| | | Elegance and Beauty of Posing Herons Could not help but share these with you. Took these yesterday morning on the way to work in Stornoway Harbour. Other than a little sunlight reflection on the beak this Heron was posing in a glorious position with the relection of the Castle Grounds surrounding 'him'. Aren't the grey feathers just beautiful against the Gold.
Just above where this Heron was standing is a Heron's nest, I don't know if its too early to lay, so not sure if this was the male or female.
Hope you enjoy as much as I ddi watching and taking......made myself late for work!

| | | Re: Elegance and Beauty of Posing Herons I could have cried there was a beautiful Heron admiring the fish in my pond
It was sat atop my Weeping Birch leaning forward, lit by that strange orangy
light caused by time of day and black clouds
I had my camera and then the Jackdaws buzzed it and drove it off
Lovely images BTW

Richard | I must admit I do this every morning and I leave myself an hour for a half an hour walk! Just a little way from the Herons were seals eating fish and popping up to say hello!

I often find I'm late wherever i'm going, I often just stand there and stare at the herons - the people passing think im crazy!!

I often find I'm late wherever i'm going, I often just stand there and stare at the herons - the people passing think im crazy!! | Its not an expensive one its a Canon Power Shot SI, I bought it because it has a x12 optical zoom and my partner bought me a 1.5x lens to go with it bringing it up to x18. Just right for the bird shots. I llive in a very hard and remote area and would find it difficult to take the shots with tripod etc. and to be honest, I am a bit of a point and take as I don't really understand all the buttons so an expensive camera would be lost on me and I could damage it on the walks I go on. If you are really serious than it would be worth buying an expensive camera like a DSLR and the Lens but for me this one matches my basic ability...it does have a lot of features I just can't use them...
I am off to day to help on a croft on the West Coast of the Island, will take camera with just in case.
