| | | a wren's nest ? Morning all
This nest is only about 12 - 18" above the water. The water is frequently at a much higher level - as can be seen by the dried paper above the nest.
Could anyone please tell me if this might be a wren's nest - and if so, are they usually built so precariously ?

| | | Re: a wren's nest ? I am not sure what that is, but a wren builds a round nest, ball shaped with a small hole in the front, long tail tit nests looks the same. |

I did a bit of an internet trawl before posting, but I couldn't come up with anything logical - I hope someone will know the answer eventually.
An educated guess, anyway.................

| | | Re: a wren's nest ? Oh dear that does look a risky place.
Has there been bad weather there recently? do you think that the branch it is perched on has prehaps fallen? just a thought as it does seem a dodgy place for such an open little nest! |

| | | Re: a wren's nest ? Its a Blackcap nest from last year. it wouldnt be that visible when it was used as all the leaves and grasses would make it almost impossible to see.

| | | Re: a wren's nest ? Yes this is typical of a Sylvia warbler nest, either lesser white throat, blackcap or garden warbler. It does look quite tidy so blackcap isn't a bad call, and I agree is most likely. |
