| | | How about a good story At the end of last year, we noticed we had a damaged starling in the garden. He couldn't fly and behaved like Roadrunner - running between shrubs.
Then he taught himself to use branches like a ladder - despite that awkward wing - to access a ready food supply
He disappeared at the beginning of December and we thought he'd gone for good. Then noticed he'd taught himself to clumsily fly again.
He survived the extreme cold
And taught himself some new techniques - simple foraging
and deep foraging
Sometimes he's Geronimo (yes, that is his wing sticking straight up in the air)
and always very proud of his progress
Nearly all photos taken through glass - sorry they're not too good

We have a magpie that visits the garden, he has a crippled leg which he can't straighten so I guess he broke it in the past. Hes been around for at least two years and manages quite well apart from we haven't seen him get a mate.
