| | | White Tailed Eagle in Kent. The KOS web sitde reported a White Tailed Eagle near Port Lympne in Kent yesterday. A second winter bird.
I have read that a juvenile was seen in S England in December 2010, so maybe the same bird?
No mention of it it looked like an escapee, i.e with jesse.
Cheers,
Bryan

| | | Re: White Tailed Eagle in Kent. There was one last year for a while down in Hampshire, probably the same bird as the 2010 one you mention, and maybe the same one that's arrived near you.
Can't wait to see the photos

| | | Re: White Tailed Eagle in Kent. There was one reported at the end of last week at Rye Meads, Herts, so possibly the same individual. I would imagine this was a bird from the continent pushed across by the harsh weather rather than a Scottish bird.
Great find! |

| | | Re: White Tailed Eagle in Kent. Reported again today in the vicinity of Walland Marsh (near Rye), from 09.30 to 12.30.
I was a bit doubtful of the first report yesterday, , but from the number of reports today it's obviously real. Reckoned by some to be a first for the larger Romney Marsh area.
Reported to have been seen on the ground at one point eating a dead fox.
Cheers,
Bryan

I suppose my earlier doubt is because age has made me rather cynical at times!

| | | Re: White Tailed Eagle in Kent. Recent years have seen several young birds, apparently of Scandinavian origin, turning up in se England. The 2007 bird in Hampshire was from Finland by virtue of the colour rings it had on its legs.
The current individual was also reported from Botolph's Bridge, Kent, before heading westwards to Walland Marsh and then Playden, in Sussex, before heading back northwards in to Kent. It was seen feeding off a dead fox at Playden.
