| | | Lesser black-backed gulls unusual meal This Lesser black-backed gull flew across the lake and dropped the egg on the concrete to break it.
What with it being February that was unusual in itself but the contents of the egg was full of what looked like scrambled egg in consistency, I can only assume that it was last years egg and that the contents had somehow congealed over the Winter to produce this unusual meal for the gull.
If anyone else has got another explanation I'd be happy to hear it. |

| | | Re: Lesser black-backed gulls unusual meal Your explanation sounds spot on to me. Gulls do regularly raid the nests of ground nesting birds such as other gulls, waders, etc. It does look like one of last year'sfor sure. |

| | | Re: Lesser black-backed gulls unusual meal I once gave an egg to my resident Herring Gulls. They didn't seem to know what to do with it, but ate the contents when I broke it for them. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
