Went bird watching up my local stithians dam yesterday,was in a hide watching and listening to the lapwings nice sound,and other birds,when I spotted a few snipe in front the hide on a small pool,watching them feed in the grass when a sparrowhawk flew through the trees scared the snipe as they took off it hit one in the air then put it in the water and sat on it to drown it,it was underwater for about 12/15 secs one a crow intervened and attacked the sparrowhawk making it fly off,few secs later the snipe popped up and flew away the hawk came back around the snipe was to good.
a great sight to see nature at it's best

Indeed, the snipe lives to see another day. Possibly. Must have been remarkable to see it fly off after that.

hi nik yes it was remarkable to see it fly off,couldn't believe the hawk tried to drown it.would of made great pics
