Dartford Warbler ID please

Spotted on the gorse at the overcliff, Boscombe this afternoon. Having never spotted one before, let alone get a picture, I am pretty sure its a dartford warbler (female ?) but could someone confirm as i dont want to make a fool of myself

Looks browner above so I'd say your correct with Female Dartford warbler, nice shot!

Yes. I'm wondering if it is a female, main reason for my thinking was that all the picures of a male i have seen have a squarer shaped head

So any further thoughts would be appreciated

Hmmm could still be a male, not a bird I'm familiar with and was going by a bird guide - the chest looks quite deep wine red so actually still could be a male... someone more knowledgeable will soon be along

What a great shot. Good to see that its got through this cold spell. I understand that the cold can have a heavy toll on these species.
