| | | Good communications! Happy New Year, all.
Last winter, we had a solitary fieldfare feeding off still-hanging apples in a tree at the bottom of a neighbour's garden. This year, we have a large flock of them, feeding off the windfalls. Clearly, last year's pioneer told his/her mates! |

| | | Re: Good communications! Excellent! I find they only come to the neighbours apple tree when the weather is really severe but they are lovely to see! They send all of the blackbirds packing. |

| | | Re: Good communications! I saw a fieldfare about a year ago in a friend's garden, which was a first for me as I've never seen one before. I will have to ask her whether there has been a few more since then, if word got around that there is a small orchard with lots of windfalls in the neighbouring garden |

| | | Re: Good communications! Had around 300-500 fieldfare around my small cul-de-sac road on the 5 crab apple trees that are on either side of the road! Most years we get half a dozen redwing on them when the weather gets cold and occasionally a fieldfare or 2 but this year it's unbelievable. Haven't seen a redwing in my area but hundreds of fieldfare!
Got plenty of chopped and half cut apples on the lawn in preparation for when they run put of crab apples!
