Migration is so fraught with perils. It really is survival of the fittest stuff. Lets hope it is just that a tag has come off.

I suspect that a bird's first migration is perhaps its most dangerous. The lessons it learns in its maiden trip would probably help it thereafter. Although, I wouldn't think for one minute that it lessens possible catastrophes, just that with experience comes knowledge.

I'll keep an eye out for Bynack (and any other tagged/ringed UK Ospreys) in Gambia and Senegal in the next couple of weeks!
