| | | Paddyfield Warbler, Pagham Just to say, there is a Paddyfield Warbler hanging out around the reeds and bushes of the Breach Pool on the North Wall at Pagham Harbour. Found by the site warden. Photos on the Sussex Ornithological Website.

| | | Re: Paddyfield Warbler, Pagham Two previous December records in Britain and Ireland (one first seen in mid November, staying until at least December 28th, one on December 3rd, found dead the next day) so winter records aren't completely unprecedented.
It seems to be increasingly common for vagrants to be found trying to over winter.

| | | Re: Paddyfield Warbler, Pagham A great little bird to have!
I was talking to someone the other day about birds like this, you wonder how long they have been in the country unnoticed, maybe this warbler hasn't been here that long as Pagham is a well watched site. But birds like the Junco in Hampshire, it's such a large area and quite a tricky bird to find that it could've come over when we had the strong winds before Christmas?

| | | Re: Paddyfield Warbler, Pagham Apparently they are increasing in wintering frequency in the low countries. It says that the bird has been present since November!? Reported today but I suspect it will be hard to find even in such a well defined area. I saw one in India and they seem to be typically tricky to pin down. I wonder how many times a Cetti's there will be claimed as a flyby sighting of it.
Cheers,
