Bird count

I started this count and was amazed at how many birds were in our garden,we had 18 sparrows, 11 Blue Tits, 7 Great Tits, 10 Chaffinch, and 3 Blackbirds male and 1 female, thanks birdwatch for opening our eyes to what we have.

Hi Tasty Worm, welcome to WAB, nice to see you have a decent amount of birds in your garden.
Wish I could get chaffinches at my feeder.
Hope you enjoy the site, theres plenty here to keep you occupied, but be careful....it can get addictive

18 Sparrows,i presume they were House Sparrows?

Thats a good count,i have one Cock House Sparrow that visits our garden every day,he didn't turn up this morning and i thought something had happened to him but he showed up this afternoon.

The House Sparrow and Starling have declined alarmingly were we live.I haven't seen a Starling in our garden for years.A pair of Starlings nested every year on next doors chimney but they stopped about 10 years ago.

They were very common in the seventies and the sky would go black with them as they made their way to roost on the old Gasworks.

Despite putting up a Sparrow Terrace and putting out Oats,i have one solitary bird.

My count today was 1 Dunnock,1 Robin,3 Blackbirds,2 Magpies,1 Woodpigeon,2 Blue Tits and a Great Tit.
