| | | Unusual bird bath? Inspired by Jaelen's Birdie Bath Time thread, I thought it would be nice to hear what different people are using as a bird bath, and which birds are using it - with photos where possible, of course. Are you also keeping your bird bath clear of ice, how often do you change the water, etc.
I have a terracotta bird bath, which I actually originally bought as a gift for someone else. It has been a big hit, and I will post a photo in the next day or two. It is mostly used by blackbirds (drinking) and by blue tits (splashing around).
Interested to hear what objects others have redesignated as bird baths... |

Not been used as much as Id hoped, but there has been so much rain fall so I guess there will be many other places they drink and bathe. highlight was a Redpoll drinking anda a Jay bathing. Coincidentally im making a new one this week

| | | Re: Unusual bird bath? Thanks Its just 3 large pallets nailed together on stilts with pond liner and decorated. It did take several shots to get it right.

I pour water from the kettle in the morning to melt the ice then take a watering can of water out when the ice is movable then empty the icy water out and re fill it with cold water. |

Za | I agree... there is something quite magical about it, too. It's like a little fairy landscape- all it needs is a few of those tiny porcelain cottages dotted about. Seriously, Alan- it's really impressive; what a lot of work!
Kayleigh- I love that photo, such a happy flock of sparrows! That's a nice birdbath as well. Is it stone? It's growing nice moss and yellow lichens on it.

| | | Re: Unusual bird bath? Here's a closer photo of my frying pan/ bird bath... minus any birds, but they did come for a wash later.
The gargoyle is there to scare away cats. (Well, I had to do something to make up for it being just a battered old pan on the ground! ) |
