I very much doubt they'll be anywhere near the amount we had last year, that was a real one-off treat

Odd ones turning up here and there, a small flock around London area at the mo.

It's blocked here at work at the moment and I can't remember exactly where they were, but check the last couple of days they have been seen.

Hi Nige (fellow Hayeser), and thanks for your prompt reply. I check London Birders (and Surrey Bird Club and Hampshire sightings) every day, so knew there had been very small groups (no more than 5 or 6) seen around South London. I just wondered and hoped you might have had insider knowledge on flocks seen nearer to home

Not yet I'm afraid, last year had them up behind the Sainsbury's petrol station at the Uxbridge Road\Coldharbour Lane junction.

There was a group of 8 or so at the Josephs Well car parkn next to the LGI and Park Lane College this morning. Heard them at first twittering away they then bombed over and into one of the berry trees.

16 waxwings in Leeds city centre this morning - feeding on rowan berries just at the front of TK Max on the Headrow. I was stood just 6 feet away - who needs retail therapy...

.. definitely! I've just been looking up on the ornithological society website to see if there have been any sightings local to me, and found there was a large flock of them recorded just down the road to where I live, last year in March March seems to be the time for them around these here parts, going by the previous recordings, so I will be keeping my eyes peeled
