| | | Rescued Grey Ring Necked Dove Avice Needed My daughter has just rescued a dove that was being attacked by a cat, it has lost lots of wing and tail feathers and has bleeding to the breast area. Now my last rescued bird was a pigeon with a broken wing, I had her for 6 years and a deformed crow that could not fly which I had for 2 years. So I must od been doing something right.
Can anybody tell me what feed to give to a dove? It is still in shock at the moment, have offered water but not taking any so keeping it warm and cuddled at the moment
Many Thanks |

| | | Re: Rescued Grey Ring Necked Dove Avice Needed I regularly have collared doves on my feeder - it's just got mixed husk free seed in so it should be ok with something like that. You could also try something like chick crumb or hard boiled egg, or maybe soaked seed (pour boiling water on and leave it to cool down) as it's a bit easier to digest and might be better after the shock.
Good luck |

| | | Re: Rescued Grey Ring Necked Dove Advice Needed Thank You for your replies, it has become more awake now but still not sure if it will fly but the feathers will have to grow back first Id imagine. We have made a tempoary home for it and it is now roosting on a perch. Going up to pet shop tomorrow to see what seed I can buy, in the meantime I have put wild bird food in as thats all I have for now.
Thank you for the welcome x |
