| | | How do you pronounce Tyttenhanger? I was in a hide a few weeks ago discussing the locations that we enjoyed for birdwatching. When Tyttenhnger sprang to mind I was careful to pronounce it TIE-ten-hanger. But then the other guy just came out with the alternative. Surely it's not pronounced like that, is it? We've always tried to avoid saying it like that.

| | | Re: How do you pronounce Tyttenhanger? I'd pronounce that the same way as you unless I was down the pub with a couple of mates having a laugh. Never heard of the place so just googled it. Its ok, its safe to do and none of those type of pictures come up!
I suppose thats not the worst name in Britain, there's Brown Willy in Cornwall and Lord Berkeley's Knob in Scotland, or how about living in a place called Ugly in Essex and there's always Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysilio gogogoch in Wales!!

| | | Re: How do you pronounce Tyttenhanger? Haha brilliant Deb. We were at Willows Farm with little'un yesterday and I wanted to wander off for a bit to find this Tyttenhanger site I've seen online and was wondering how it was pronounced as well.
I've always pronounced it TIT-TEN-HANGER
To me, if it was TIE-ten-hanger it would be spelt Tytenhanger

| | | Re: How do you pronounce Tyttenhanger? Luckily things are not always as they seem. The OH has rather an unusual way of pronouncing Debra, that would seem very reasonable on the surface, but glad my primary school friends never picked up on it!
TIE-ten-hanger it is. Phew!

TIE-ten-hanger it is. Phew! | You know me by now Deb. I don't have to say what my preferred pronunciation is
However, I'm intrigued by how anyone can possibly say ''Debra'' in an offensive way ????
Oh!! I see. Nether garments ?
