We found the remains of the bird below on the beach at Lelant, Cornwall, this afternoon. It was about the size of a shag, maybe a bit smaller, black and white plumage, webbed feet, and a bayonet beak.
I'd love to know what it is.   |

"About 200 seabirds have died after becoming trapped in a fishing net off St Ives, Cornwall, the RSPB has said. ... Cornwall Wildlife Trust collected a number of dead birds from Porthmeor Beach during the weekend."
