We visited my relatives in Suffolk over the Christmas period we took our usual country/observing walk through the small private wooded estate, if you keep strictly to the path no body minds. There is a medium size lake at the edge of the woods the path goes around part of it. Since our last visit in september we noticed it has been completely surrounded with fencing about 1.1/2mt high with a strange overlap at the top coming out about 30cm.On its own i would not have taken any notice but we have recently seen another fence being erected like it around the great pond on land near us,..Any ideas? |

Sounds like otter/mink fencing. |

Of the wood it may be used to rear pheasant.The pond could be fenced to stop cattle or such from entering or falling in...

Thank you for your replies we have now established what the fencing is being erected for, it was described as anti/otter fencing by one of the men working in the area of the pond. It seems the estate/farm applied for help from the environmental agency in having the fence erected due to otter predation problems. | | |
