| | Birds pecking a wall I sit and watch the birds from window and noticed that when they are all feeding from the feeders they have all started congregate together and cling to the brick wall in my garden and what looks like pecking the cement in between the brick, or like kind of scraping their beaks on it as if to sharpen their beaks. When one or two strart they all do it.
Does anyone know why they do it, what it means or what they are doing?
Thanks

Emma. | I see the birds doing this every day after they feed. I think they are cleaning there beaks. I know this is a little out of context but we used to have a hamster that we had to take to the vet to get his teeth cut as they never stopped growing. I think it's possible that bird beaks like hamster teeth and human nails continue to grow. If this is the case then they could be filing there beaks |

Emma. | I found this when looking for info on a baby blue tit:
Ever wondered why the blue tit was clinging to your wall? Besides looking for spiders, at this time of the year she would be eating calcium grit - it was on the Nurturing Nature web site. |

Emma. | After a while I watched what they were doing and it appears they are eating insects and aslo the grit. My dad has chickens and they need some grit in their diet to help digest food. So It could be the same for birds. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
