| | | Robin with broken/dislocated leg This robin turned up in our garden today with a broken dislocated leg....it fed from the ground feeder before flying to the fence where it managed to perch on the post.I have seen more than one robin using the feeders and can see this one will not stand a chance if it gets involved in a fight!!The toes on the leg look like they are dying-gangrene perhaps or atrophy?

| | | Re: Robin with broken/dislocated leg Providing the other leg/foot is normal it could be OK.
I witnessed our garden blackbird removing its own foot which was broken. That was months ago. It's still here, feeding and getting around well. |

| | | Re: Robin with broken/dislocated leg Not much to be done im afraid birds can cope with broken legs all the time. If you try and catch it the shock and stress may kill it even before you take it to the vet. The chances are the vet would put it to sleep ( not worth all the medication on a Robin) and time etc. and as we all know robins fight to the death over territory and they are real fights and they need to be fit. One leg won’t cut it in the wild sorry to say.
But this is just my opinion
