| | | Re: A big thank you I agree, and would like to extend this if I may Lee. I have never experienced such a friendly and helpful bunch as "birders" in general. You can strike up a conversation, learn from and even be encouraged by complete strangers. I can now ID the more common gulls, I can recognise loads more birds than before just by using my ears and I've made some headway into the waders.
But WABBERS are the best. Without RoyW I'd have never spotted my first Lesser Spotted Woodpecker; without Elaine (who gave me her bird CD) I'd never have learnt so many calls. And almost everyone has been supportive and informative. There is a lot of expertise here that I draw on nearly every day.
I'm on my own in terms of birding. Unless I'm on an RSPB or LNHS bird walk, the bird usually has to be ID'd by myself alone. I started a list late last September and it is a little sparse as I won't add to it if I haven't made my mind up about an ID. It would be even sparser without help from you guys here as I'm still learning. And if I didn't read inspirational posts that make me want to get out there and "bird" it would be fairly non-existent.
One day I'll hopefully be able to help others and pass on some of the enthusiasm and expertise that others have so unstintingly passed to me.
Love you all - you're the best.

Definitely agree this is by far the most friendly and helpful site I've come across. Long may it continue
Thanks everyone!
