| | Can honey be used for making fat balls Hello All, Have just joined up after reading some interesting information on providing winter feed for birds, and wondered if honey can be mixed into the lard/suet with seeds etc., I am thinking more for nourishment than taste as its a natural food.
Kind regards Lucia |

| | | Re: Can honey be used for making fat balls I coat seeds with it then add into suet balls (only about a teaspoon) I also lightly coat peanuts and sunflower hearts and push them into holes in a hanging log for the woodpeckers and other birds that are curious enough to try the log. Not Too Much just enough to give a sheen on the seeds and nuts etc.

| | | Re: Can honey be used for making fat balls Hi and welcome,
I think butter is a bad idea as it can cause problems if it gets on birds wings so lard is better.. |
