| | | Re: Most memorable Birding Experience of 2011? Had three life and one Brit ticks this year - Oriental Turtle Dove, Baird's Sandpiper, Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, Penduline Tit.
Plenty of other great days out though such as the day at Chew Valley lake when I got - Sharp-tailed Sandpiper, 2 Long-billed Dowitchers, Spotted Sandpiper, Ring-necked Duck, Red-crested Pochard, Bewick's Swans.
Purple Sandpipers braving the breaking waves on rocks at Mudeford Quay.
Best non-bird moment whilst birding was watching a pod of 7 Bottlenose Dolphins pass so close in below the cliffs at Portland I could hear them exhaling.
Cheers,
Adam |

| | | Re: Most memorable Birding Experience of 2011? My most memorable dip of the year has to be the Christchurch Harbour Red-breatsed Goose that kindly disappeared overnight the night before I went to see it after it had been there for ages.

Adam | Thats why I gave up twitching about 10 yrs ago - never looked back.
Oh, yes, ahem, apart from still missing Dotterel in England. Keep on dipping, right on and on........
2012 will do it with help from Chris JB.

Best wishes for the New Year, Chris |

| | | Re: Most memorable Birding Experience of 2011? A few for me:-
Waxwings a plenty at the beginning of the year & was able to add them to my old garden list!
The Barn Owl in flight at night, during the Priory Water meet.
The White-tailed Eagle flying low over our heads near Basingstoke. (Having already had a weekend in the New Forest waiting for it to appear & it didn't!)
A simple one is the Starling murmuration over my new garden every evening.
Adding Red Kite to my new garden list!
To mention my non-birding moment, it has to be, being bombarded by Bats & being able to hear them on the boxes, at the Thursley Common meet.
I wonder what 2012 will bring?
