| | | Get those feeders up! Hi all, a friendly reminder, almost definitely not needed by most of you on here, to get those bird feeders filled up. The weather is really starting to deteriate over the last week and week to come. Where I am from in the west midlands they have forecast up to 10cm of snow for Friday :O
So the birds will need as much help as ever. Like I say I an sure that 95% of you won't even need this reminder but I thought it was worth it
Cheers,
Jim |

| | | Re: Get those feeders up! I had put mine up for the first time on Saturday, as we got a blast of snow then. They're still half full just now, but as we all know - once they remember a food source it won't take long for them to empty. |

| | | Re: Get those feeders up! My seed and nut feeders have been going well for months now.
But with the cold weather I've started putting the fat balls out: I keep those back for the harder weather.
Cheers,
Bryan

| | | Re: Get those feeders up! I put food out all through the year too, and it has been disappearing quite slowly throughout the summer, but over the last 3 or 4 weeks the feeders have been going down at an alarming rate - particularly the sunflower hearts feeder which is emptied on an almost daily basis! Costing me a fortune, but worth it! |

| | | Re: Get those feeders up! Cheers for the replies and I too have noticed the increase in numbers and variety of birds visiting the garden particularly in the last two weeks. To name a few the coal tits visited today for the first time in 2 months, the great tits have visited everyday for the past week know after a 6 month absence. Wintering chaffinches are know becoming more of a regular site around the garden (they are not resident all year). House sparrow numbers which are the main birds in my garden have gone from groups of 10-20 to groups of 40+.
And a couple of nice little extras had a goldcrest for the first time in the garden 2 weeks ago and it retrned again last Sunday! Also noticed the blue tit regualry going in and out of the nest box recently aswell during the day, maybe looking for roosting options.
Cheers,
Jim |
