| | | Re: egg thieve jailed I also don't like the way the report calls him an egg collector makes it sound like stamps or records ( i know that it is called egg collecting but doesn't make it sound illegal) |

| | | Re: egg thieve jailed This was reported on the BBC Scotland news this afternoon. Apparently it was the maximum sentence available for the offence. Time the maximum was increased I think. However, there was a suggestion that an ASBO could be sought, with restrictions placed on him preventing him travelling around the country.
I'm not sure how that would be enforced though, unless his photo is sent to reserve wardens in areas he's likely to target so they could contact the authorities if he's spotted.
What really sickened me in the news report was when one of the RSPB officers showed Golden Eagle eggs and explained that one of them was less than a week from hatching when it was stolen.
I really don't know what to suggest is an appropriate sentence for these offenders, much longer prison sentences combined with punitive fines would be a start.
Regards, Audrey. |

It's not entirely clear that he has any actual interest in the eggs - just has a compulsion to collec them.
Clearly needs treatment and, I would suggest, tagging? |
