| | | Feeder Well I have just inspected the feeder that I put out in the summer. My guess is that the peanuts were never touched and have probably 'gone off' somewhat. I have replenished the stock and hope for a better response, leaving piles of peanuts under the lampost also.
Fingers crossed |

| | | Re: Feeder I honestly think you will do better with sunflower hearts. These are eaten by almos all species of birds. Try them. |

| | | Re: Feeder I find the fat block and fat ball feeders are very popular. if you hang them on a branch so that all the birds can get at them, even the ground feeding birds seem to like the ones I hang up. |

| | | Re: Feeder are you familiar with the normal dark sunflower seeds? The hearts are what is inside. You just need an ordinary seed feeder. |

| | | Re: Feeder I am just hoping that they dont fall out of the apertures in the feeder but I will buy some balls and other treats and turn the lampost into a restaurant for the birds of Little Aston. Remember I have to watch out for the hundreds of grey squirrels so have to be box clever with placement. The feeders at the rear of the house are for the squirrels. I want the post for the birds. Will show you my results |

| | | Re: Feeder Boddie, you will need a seed feeder for the sunflower hearts. They can be bought in any pet shop, most supermarkets and often on stalls at open air markets, in fact wherever you are likely to buy bird feed. They are quite inexpensive unless you want to go to the expense of squirrel proof feeders. Sunflower hearts are a favourite of most birds and will even be taken from the feeders by robins. You may well find that once the birds become used to your feeding station they will take peanuts, so don't dispose of the mesh peanut feeder. The sunflower hearts are also cleaner as the shells have been removed so you will be saved the joy of sweeping up the seed cases or having the area look a mess.
