Unlikely to be Tree Pipit then as they should have all been out of the country by then! In any case, the bill looks too thick for a pipit species.... Skylark, maybe?
I can however quite confidently tell you that it is dead. Ceased to be. Shuffled off this mortal coil. An ex- something or other!
