| | | Down comes the snow and in come the birds My garden has slowly gotten busier over the last few months but as soon as there is a snow fall (and we only really had a smattering) the place is a hive of activity. Today at the same time I had small flocks of goldfinches, greenfinches, chaffinches, a couple of bullfinches, house sparrows, dunnocks, starlings, blue tits, coal tits, a couple of great tits, a pair of blackbirds, 3-4 collared doves, a wood pigeon and the first reed bunting I've seen around since late spring. All in all really happy with them all bust mostly the coal and blue tits as I never seem to get more than one or 2 usually. I think both have had a good year round here and I hope some of the blue tits are the ones that fledged from the box in my garden. As well as the box I've hung some roosting pouches deep in the conifer trees so hopefully that is also a draw for them. |

Out of those birds you just mentioned, theres only about one bird at a time of each species visiting, never that amount at one time! And i havent seen bullfinches, chaffinches, doves or reed buntings. Do you have a specialist wild life garden or something? I wonder why ive never had that amount of birds visiting in one go |

Though since about this time last year I've started feeding the birds and offering the right food while making the garden less accessable to cats seems to have done the trick. |
