| | | Re: Good numbers of SEOwls There's been a good influx of Short-eared Owls recently. A few weeks back 50 were seen arriving off the sea at Titchwell. This all suggests a good breeding season.
Quite a few have been recorded in the London area over the last couple of weeks with at least a couple most days at various sites. |

MIKE | I counted seventeen (best of several counts) from one spot on Denhall Lane, Burton Marsh last Sunday evening, the guy next to me managed eighteen. It's a raptor spectacular there at the moment with marsh and hen harrier, peregrine, merlin, kestrel, sparrowhawk and buzzard all being seen, with fantastic numbers of shorties, and the possibility of barn and little owl too. You can also watch scores of little egrets going to roost at Burton Mere, with the possibility of the two great white egrets that also roost there - a spoonbill was seen last Sunday too.
Cheers

The word is crepuscular, hunting during dawn or dusk which is primarily what Barn Owls do; I see SEO's during the day, early afternoon is a good time.
