| | | Birds at Carsington The water level's so low at the moment, pushing the shoreline well away from observation points, that it's difficult to get a good view of the birds there, even with 10x binocs.
I'm sure I saw goosanders and plovers (but not sure which), but couldn't get anywhere near enough to take a recognisable photo. I did manage to get this fuzzy picture of what I guessed was a female widgeon. Correct?
Thanks,
Ian |

| | | Re: Birds at Carsington Yes Carsington is a real shocker at the moment. We went a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe how low the water levels were, the lowest I've ever seen them.
I'm putting off going again for some considerable time. |

| | | Re: Birds at Carsington Thanks, all. I've made a note to keep checking on water levels there but, noting that the reservoir's supposed to be a balancing facility for the Trent, I don't suppose there'll be excess water there for some weeks. |

Often it varies dramatically and it's not just down to the amount that's fallen as rain. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
