| | | Why is a Dunnock singing in my Cambridgeshire garden? I've not noticed this previously in Autumn? Could this be due to the unusually warm weather we had recently? |

| | | Re: Why is a Dunnock singing in my Cambridgeshire garden? Its not common, but sometimes dunnocks sing in autumn to to advertise their winter territory. Was it a standard song, it wasnt alarm calling was it? |

| | | Re: Why is a Dunnock singing in my Cambridgeshire garden? No, a standard song. Today is the third day. Usually there are two or three Dunnock in the garden this time of year throughout the day from before dawn to after dusk with plenty of calls. We have an unusually meek Robin too. I put this down to the fact that this isn't a very territorial time of the year for robins.
Do you think the Dunnock is trying to wind him up?

Reason: I meant 'unusual' not 'usual'

I've a Robin in the garden that showed up in the Summer. It started singing as soon as it arrived, as is doing it as I type. It also makes loads of sounds it shouldn't, including a pretty good impression of a Blackbird (no, it wasn't a Blackbird; I watched the Robin while it called ) It also "Clicks", "Squeaks", "Buzzes", and a few more that I'm uncertain how to describe.

What I was trying to say is that this is one of the periods of the year in my garden when robins are not resident but occasionally feed there. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
