| | | Re: Eastern Crowned Warbler Anyone been or thinking of going for it? It would appear to favour the belt of pines and scrub viewable from a public footpath at the north end of the reservoir to the west of the airfield buildings. Restricted viewing as there is no access. Apparently on its own or consorting loosely with Goldcrest/s. Its call (if it's calling) is quite distinctive, a tit-like tittu-tittueee with the last syllable sounding a little wheezy.
Cheers,

| | | Re: Eastern Crowned Warbler It is tempting, but a bit too far for me before work
I'm gonna keep an eye on reports and if there's a chance it's still around Friday morning, I may go. |

| | | Re: Eastern Crowned Warbler Don't think it's been positively confirmed since it was ringed + released, though there have been 2 possible sightings that may have been it, but not definite.
I'm sure there'll be more people now it might be there. |

| | | Re: Eastern Crowned Warbler Exactly.
I assume the warbler will perish in this country. Is this likely to be the case?

| | | Re: Eastern Crowned Warbler The ringers recorded a fat level of 5 when they ringed it so this is a healthy, well-fed bird. Can't see it hanging around for long if it is indeed still there.
Chances are it will reorientate itself and head in vaguely the general direction of where it should be going, even if it doesn't end up in the wintering ground it would have ended up at had it not deviated in the first place.

| | | Re: Eastern Crowned Warbler There's no reason why it should perish unless it orientates itself out into the Atlantic. Obviously large numbers of migrants do perish en route even those on a "regular" route, but this bird was healthy so has a good a chance of surviving even if it never gets back to Siberia. Just the usual risks such as escaping severe weather. predators, etc. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
