| | How do I get him back?! I recently had a visit from a beautiful sparrowhawk. It was a lovely surprise as I washed my mug and he landed on my garden step with his fresh catch.
Now I don't know much about these birds and have no idea about their nesting and hunting activities but would love to tempt the little guy back.
Is there any way of tempting him or do I just have to cross my fingers? |

Sprawks, like most creatures, will follow wherever there's a good supply of food. It may stick around, also depends if they're breeding nearby.

| | | Re: How do I get him back?! Hello, Stronti.
You asked - Is there any way of tempting him or do I just have to cross my fingers?
- the answer is you have to keep your fingers crossed, and as has been suggested, a fleeting glimpse is probably all you can hope for.
Sounds like you had a great view but, IMO, a sparrowhawk's flight is so quick that often it is gone before you realise it has happened.
Good luck for its next visit.
Dave

| | | Re: How do I get him back?! It's quite unnerving when you are walking across the lawn early in the morning to put bird seed out on to the table, (this was yesterday) and one comes past you at about 18 inches off the ground. He/she was hoping for an early breakfast, but it was only just light, and I was the only thing around! |

| | | Re: How do I get him back?! I have one visiting my garden regularly and the reason - feeders and lots of sparrows! I've found 2 piles of feathers in the last few months so his kills are rare but as long as he keeps coming I don't mind. They are incredible to see. Hope yours comes back. |

Nige | There's enough Sparrow Hawks on WAB thank you very much.
If I had said "Hang some birds from yer feeder" everyone would have been down on me like a ton of bricks.
Neil.
PS. Love to see sprawks though. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
