| | | Bird Song CD I would like to know if anyone knows where I can buy a CD with bird songs on it for identification purposes, sort of an 'Audio Book of Birds' as the description of the song in the usual books doesn't really give you much to go on!
Thanks.

Also worth getting is Field Guide to Wildlife Sounds by Geoff Sample again, HarperCollins 2006. ISBN 0 00 720906 1
I tried leaving the bird song CDs on at bed time in the hope that I would learn them subliminaly and I can assure you, it doesn't work!

Thanks. | I've had a BirdGuides CDrom for several years, and use it frequently for all sorts of info about birds, including their calls and songs. There is now a DVD which is even more comprehensive: BirdGuides Online - Quality Bird Information and Products |

| | | Re: Bird Song CD I've got the pack of 3 RSPB DVDs, which I think is more helpful than the CDs, as I find I am more likely to remember the song if I see the bird. It also helps with identification, of course, as you get to see what unfamiliar birds look like as well as sound like.
The only problem I have is that the voice-over is so soothing it sends me to sleep. |

| | | Re: Bird Song CD Do you think it would be feasible to convert the bird calls into mp3 format which you could transfer to a mobile phone etc and play from a hide to draw them in closer for a good pic or is that just wishfull thinking. |

| | | Re: Bird Song CD Hi, Birdguides has video guide version for the iPod that is really good. You get movies of the birds, calls and a spoken commentary and of course you can carry it around with you in the field or plug it into your car system on the way home. It'll also play on your computer.
Really useful and you could probably play the bird songs loud enough to fool real ones if you used a speaker.
Only drawbacks are the price at about £50 and the fact that it takes forever to load onto the iPod as each file and about 50 playlists have to be loaded seperately. |
