| | | Unknown bird call/song Sorry this is going to be a bit vague, but I heard a short call from a bird in a tree next to my house, but could never see it. When I'd gone in to get my binos it had disappeared.
Basically it was only 2 notes every 10 seconds or so. Quite sharp, not scratchy at all. And kinda sounded like saying 'Up down' but slightly dragged out. Like 'Uup dowwn'
It sounded very warbler like, but I've trawled through some of the more common birds on Xeno Canto but couldn't find a match.
As I said it's vague, but if anyone could give an idea or provide maybe a similar clip I'd be grateful!
Thanks,

| | | Re: Unknown bird call/song Not many warblers likely to be around gardens now apart from a few Blackcaps + Chiffchaffs neither of which sound like you describe, though appreciate how difficult it is to put sounds into words.
Guess Great tit is often the default bird in these situations with their bewilderingly vast repertoire.
Sorry can't be more help. |

| | | Re: Unknown bird call/song No problem aeshna thanks for trying. I did try the first page of Great Tit calls (there were at least 6 in all which I don't have time to go through!!) but none matched.
Since posting this thread I've found Coal Tit comes closest but it still doesn't match what I remember and I've never seen Coal Tit around where I live. I'll listen out for it again and try recording it somehow.
