| | | My weekend in Norfolk Just spent the last couple of days in Norfolk doing some birding, mainly at Titchwell, but also visiting Holme, Cley, Salthouse, Kelling and Holkham. The full list of species seen on my trip is at the end. I stayed at Deepdale Backpackers Hostel in Burnham Deepdale.
Although there were no major rarities there was a steady stream of migrants coming in off the sea throughout the days. Mainly thrushes, finches, starlings and pipits.
Here are some pics I took along the way.
Sunrise at Salthouse
Grey Seal at Salthouse. It was snoozing in the surf about 10 feet off shore.
male Pintail at Cley
Common Snipe at Cley
Mixed flock at Cley
Brent Geese and Golden Plovers at Titchwell (frustratingly, when I took this pic there was a Dotterel amongst the GP, which I didn't find out about until after it had gone)
male Teal at Titchwell
female Wigeon at Titchwell
Knot on the beach at Titchwell
Bar-tailed Godwit on the beach at Titchwell
a kind of Tubeworm on the beach at Titchwell
7,000 year old remains of trees on the beach at Titchwell

| | | Re: My weekend in Norfolk A great few days there! You seen much more than what I saw when I went, but then again I only spent an hour there
Jeff I don't know what to think of the new hides, they seem a bit OTT! They might as well turn them into a hotel! But then they are warm and cosy

As you say, very warm and cosy... and stylish - but do we really need such stylish bird hides?

Cheers,
Adam | Sounds like a busy couple of days. Nice pictures i like the tree roots.
With global warming and sea levels rising they might be saying in the future look at these, remains of a 7 thousand year old bird hide on the beach |

Can you count birds that you camera records but you don't physically notice? (I would say not).
A pretty good list, which would have included about half a dozen year ticks for me - must get to Norfolk!

| | | Re: My weekend in Norfolk good question roy .I dont think you should claim a bird that was in a photo you took but did not notice it at the time of taking the photo. However that would be extremely annoying i reckon . Ive had a few birds that i have only had fleeting glimpses off which is almost as annoying,as is getting a bird that is a distant spot on the horizon . |
