| | First shot's of a Heron :-) After a morning spent trying to photograph the little Grebe in my area I gave up after a few hours and went for walk. I am glad I did as I got to photograph my first Heron. The pics have had a slight crop. But im well chuffed with them.
I hope to catch a pair soon as last year they were catching eels and I did not have a decent camera then so I missed out. But fingers crossed for this summer.
Take care

Im still trying to wok out if the uncropped versions are better they show the Heron in its more natural environment, Its a difficult choice.
As for the Grebe they keep eveading me. I will get a decent shot soon. The shots I managed to get were during the week as I was walking the kids and dog so the shots I got are a bit poor! not making excuses but a two year old and a teething six month old are not ideal companions for taking pics lol.
Thanks take care

Ps thanks Aeshna a lovely compliment

I know what you're saying but I fing that tree trunk a bit distracting , so personally I prefer the cropped version.

| | | Re: First shot's of a Heron :-) I love your herons. It is always a quandary on how much to crop. At the same time, we want to show as much bird detail as possible plus something of the surroundings. If in doubt, I crop for detail and keep the original; that is with JPEG. With RAW, it is not a problem.
