| | | Re: First shot's of a Heron :-) Great shots of the Heron Ian, and I definitely prefer the cropped version. It's all a matter of taste, but as the main subject is the Heron I prefer to see the Heron dominating the photograph and the detail on the Heron shown up, particularly the eye, as it does in the cropped version.

I hope to catch a pair soon as last year they were catching eels and I did not have a decent camera then so I missed out. But fingers crossed for this summer.
Take care
Harmau Ian | Ian, excellent shots, I prefer the cropped ones for the purpose of ashot of a heron as it were. If you were presenting an illustrated talk then I suggest the uncropped shot would have it's place. I like them all!

| | | Re: First shot's of a Heron :-) Wonderful pix Ian, I am very envious. I spent some time last year taking pix of 5+ heron on the local riverbank... not one was worth keeping. Well done!

| | | Re: First shot's of a Heron :-) Hi Harimau, beautiful Heron shots. Our friendly Robin seems to have disappeared in the last month. Do male Robins nest? Could there be another reason. He used to come for walks with us and stay close when we were gardening. Regards Blackdown |

| | Re: First shot's of a Heron :-) Hi, sorry this reply is so long after your post. First of all, I would like to say that your photos are of very high quality, and deserve an award. Seccondly, I would like to tell you a little about my self. I am a conservationist from Stanmore, in Middlesex. I am just 16 years old, and care deeply about protecting wildlife. I currently do little to protect them, given my age, but spread awareness via my website which you'll find at the bottom of this post. I am currently recording documentary about British wildlife. It began on the first official day of spring (20th March), and I am continguing throughout the rest of the year, showing how animals cope with the changing of the seasons. I hope that this will show people that you don't have to be in the middle of nowhere to see local wildlife. I was also fontunate enough to take some photos of a herron during filming my documentary, among other animals. I have posted my favourite photo below. I hope it is satisfactory:
My website is Conservation Awareness Team (C.A.T.) - Conservation Awarness Team (C.A.T) (Conservation Awareness Team - C.A.T.)
Sorry the photo is of poor quality, this website made me crop it as it was too big, so the image became streched and lost quality. Please visit my website for the full image, thank you. Best wishes, Jason.
