| | | Is it unusal for... Coal tits to eat nyger seed and Robins to eat wild bird seed? I have noticed these birdseating this at my hide, I always thought Robins would be more insect feeders and Coal Tits to eat nuts and hearts? Its probably normal, but Ive never picked up on it. Hope some one can shed some light on it

They select an individual seed and move onto the perching ring which is only about an eighth of an inch wide and place it under their feet and peck away. The dexterity involved is quite incredible, and I can observe them doing it from a distance of a couple of feet. They do this every day...Bob

| | | Re: Is it unusal for... So far since I put a new nyjer feeder up it's only been coal tits that have shown any interest in it and even then its really just them checking to see if there's anything new in it. |

| | | Re: Is it unusal for... I've not had much on the feeders recently, but usually the tits will feed on the fatballs, and the Robin will feed on fatballs and wild seed mix, but he usually prefers the fatballs.
