| | | Unknown bird This forum has been very helpful in the past in identifying. Can you help with this bird?
The first picture shows a back view, in the second, the brid has turned its head. Photographed in rural South Devon. It is about the same size as a greenfinch

| | | Re: Unknown bird Hi Tessnell, the bird shown is a Dunnock, it used to be called the Hedge Sparrow as well, because it looks a bit like the House Sparrow. Regards, Nicola.

| | | Re: Unknown bird Just goes to show the importance of habitat in identifying birds. I am used to seeing Dunnocks lurking in the bushes, not sitting on top singing loudly!

Tess | Hi Tess well caught. Dunnocks will often sit on the top of bushes at this time of year singing, it's one of the ways of attracting a mate in Spring.
