| | | poor little owl.... I was coming home last week from a late shift at work. I saw what I thought was a pile of paper in the road.
As I approached it the 'pile of paper' turned it's head and looked at me but too late, I hit it! I could have cried out in disbelief!
I drove all the way back to the next junction and back again just to make sure that it was alright or not.
I found the poor creature completely smashed on the road. I picked it up to lay on the verge and could not believe that it weighed absolutely nothing!
I know that birds have hollow bones but this poor creature was wasted away by something.
Can someone please tell me what this poor soul may have had that could have caused it to be where it was when I hit it?
A very sad...

| | | Re: poor little owl.... What most likely happened is that the bird had already been hit by a car and was either injured or in shock before you hit it. Unfortunately owls are prone to being hit by cars as they have a slow low flight. As for its weight they would be around 150g at this time of year, you would be amazed how light birds are, little owls look much larger than they are due to their feathering, especially the head. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
