| | | Birding at Dinton Pastures Had a couple of hours in the gorgeous Autumn sunshine at Dinton Pastures today.
I've not been out with my camera for a long time, so it was a bit of a treat.
I was hoping to be able to add Kingfisher to my year & life list but it was a no show!
Adam heard it but I don't know what one sounds like, so can't count it.
A few pics of some of the birds we saw.
List as follows:-
Little Grebe
Great Crested Grebe
Red Kite
Buzzard
Cormorant
Grey Heron
Gadwall
Shoveler
Black-headed Gull
Moorhen
Coot
Egyptian Goose
Canada Goose
Teal
Wigeon
Tufted Duck
Mallard
Mute Swan
Green Woodpecker
Jay
Wren
Jackdaw
Goldfinch
Long-tailed Tit
Goldcrest
Rook
Crow
Thanks for looking!

| | | Re: Birding at Dinton Pastures I always used to find Little Marlow Gravel Pits (LMGP) productive for Kingfishers, and its only 10 miles or so from Dinton Pastures. Kingfishers tend to be visible at LMGP because they often fly across the open water of the pit. They're also to be found along the stream to the N of pits (just after Little Marlow church) and a waterway just S of the Spade Oak pub.
The site has a number of regular birders - quite a few folk pop out in their lunch hour - and has a good list (try the Bucks Bird Club website). |

I shall go & have a look next week if the weather stays nice!
Doh, just realised my mistake.
I'm at Adam's using his pc.
After I posted realised I wasn't logged in as me!
Thanks again, Cordaline!
