looks like fieldfares and redwings made good time over pennines loads of flocks being sighted round Cheshire now  MIKE

Yes Filey, Flamborough and Spurn are all very good places to witness a fall at this time of year. They are very exciting and you never know what they could bring. It has been a good couple of days around here (hence me not being on WAB).
Highlights have been
3 more short-eared owls
1 hen harrier
Grey phalarope
2 x great grey shrikes
2 x Red flanked blue tails!!!!
8 yellow browed warblers (had three together at one point)
Rustic bunting
Firecrest
and a Norwegian goldcrest too.
It has turned west now though so could be a short lived autumn. No where near as good as last year . |

It was called Egil ,
Yes it had a fresh ring on it, from Stavanger, possibly rung just before it came over here, but I wont know until later.
Quite a few northern bullfinch too, and goldfinch and greenfinch with northern characteristics (very long winged). A couple of abietinus chiffchaffs too. |
