| | | The Glaucous Gull at Dungeness I haven't seen one yet, but this Glaucous Gull has been at Dungeness since November last year, and still remains. Would anyone happen to know where it likes to hang out? (obviously they move around but I'm sure it has some regular spots. I see sometimes it's at the 'fishing boats', but I have no idea where they are!) I may go there next week and would be nice to finally catch it
Thanks,
Nige |

When you drive down the estate road towards the lighthouses, the fishing boats are on the left hand side. You will see several old boats that have long been sat there. Park on the road side here and walk across the shingle to the sea. If it's lowish tide walk right to the sea and scan the gulls loafing on the shore. If it's high tide then it is likely to be amongst the gulls 'roosting' on the shingle between the road and the sea. It is bigger than the Herring Gulls. There can be several flocks scattered around. There are loads of gulls around the peninsular, but the fishing boats is the area it seems to favour most. I found it pretty much straight away when I looked for it. The Patch and beach in front of the power station is also a good place to look through the gulls.
Cheers,

| | | Re: The Glaucous Gull at Dungeness When I saw it c3 weeks ago it was on its own by the boats, while not too far away was a group of c100 Herring, LBB + Great BB Gulls. Gave the impression of being a loner. |

Thanks very much Adam, I'm pretty sure I know where you mean, so will venture out to sea to search if we end up down there

| | | Re: The Glaucous Gull at Dungeness I think that next year it will be a full adult if my memory serves me right. It should be the only large gull with no black on it's wings.
